My journey is a long one and it starts in Milwaukee. Being born here makes you hungry. It makes you crave something more. I have this hunger and it grew as my mother pushed me to take risks, transforming it into a deep starvation that has hit my spine and every single nerve I have. I'm hungry for success, to be great, to be intelligent, to be creative, and to use to my skills to the fullest. One of the skills that I am working to mature is my ability to create.
My art experiences at Ronald Reagan College Prep have helped mold the abilities I have. I've experienced my first set of art related assignments, all of them demanding and challenging, an array of due dates that have taught me to abandon my procrastinating ways, and valuable critique. I've never pushed myself so far before and it really has fueled my love of art. Through Reagan I have found my passion for 3D pieces, clay being choice, I have really began to understand the limitations and possibilities of acrylics, and I have learned more about classical artists. A couple of artists that influence and inspire me are Euan Uglow, Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, and Lucian Freud. A lot of my works revolve around the human figure because it is so complex and so organic all at once.
I have a few achievements with my art thus far. Aside from having gallery at Reagan, I was in the MIAD summer program 2012 and had the pleasure to work with painting instructor Joe Boblick. After my critique with the staff there I was awarded a 5,000 scholarship to go to MIAD. Only 9 students out of all the programs were awarded with scholarships. With the knowledge I gained there I hope to push myself even farther, no longer striving for perfectly realistic pieces, but to really feel my pieces and now enjoy my art.
